Janet McCormick is a new
member of Heart of Tennessee BPW. At the Region II District IV meeting,
she explained that the communications majors at MTSU are required to
Intern for organizations to complete their degree. This
service is free to the organizaton. This sounds like a great
opportunity to get help with developing and executing a plan for a
major fundraiser for your local. For more information please
contact Janet. Her email is listed below.
Here are a few specifics
on the Internship Program at MTSU:
1. The student is
responsible for finding their own internship (I will help them to
connect with you if you can send me an outline of your needs).
2. The supervisor of the
internship site must then write a letter to me (we have a form for
this) stating the hours expected to be worked and the job
responsibilities.
3. After I approve the
letter, the student may register for the internship. An intern
typically works 5 hours per week for 15 weeks to earn one credit
hour at MTSU. 10 hours per week earns 2 credit hours, 15 hours per
week earns 3 credit hours (75, 125, 225 hours respectively). A
student may take up to 4 hours of credit spread out
over 4 semesters or in
combination as needed (including all 4 hours in one semester).
4. Near the end of the
semester, the work site supervisor will be sent evaluation
questionnaires by me to be filled out and returned in order for the
student to be eligible to pass the internship.
Let me know your needs
and I will try to find you a good match.
Sincerely,
Janet McCormick
