EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE/STATE OFFICERS

President

Joyce Brokaw

hoosierbanker@comcast.net

Joyce Brokaw joined BPW in Terre Haute, IN, and quickly became involved by saying yes -- and held various offices in the Terre Haute Local.  After serving two years as President, Joyce moved to Manchester, Tennessee in 1982 with her family. Although busy starting a hardware store with her husband, she again became involved with BPW by joining Manchester BPW and subsequently served as their President. However, Manchester was not to be their home and they moved to Gallatin in 1985. Joyce did not become involved in BPW again right away, but one day saw information regarding the meeting and the guest speaker.  An age-old cliché, the rest is history.

Joyce served as Secretary, Vice President, President-Elect, President and Treasurer for Gallatin BPW and then went on to serve as District IV Director for two years, Region II Director for two years, and then went on to serve the State Federation as Corresponding Secretary for one year, Recording Secretary two years, Second Vice President, and is currently serving as First Vice President.

Employed full time with SunTrust Bank in Nashville for eighteen years in the Lease Operations and Customer Service Areas in the Consumer Lending Service area in charge of Work Flow, Joyce is responsible for seeing that all work is completed within their level of service, time sheets are printed, insurance filed timely, and she is the next person to speak to irate customers. She participates with other SunTrust employees in the Mother’s March and the Heart Walk.

Joyce and husband Jerry (for 44 years) have one daughter, Julie, who was married last May to Keith Phillips, making Joyce an instant Grand-mother to Anthony (9) and Eric (7.)  Also in May, she and Jerry adopted Mitch -- a long hair tabby cat who can reach the top of the stairs in a split-second.  Joyce is a member of St. John Vianney Church and Choir.

Joyce wants to emphasize that BPW is a very important part of her life and encourages each of you to become INVOLVED!!!!

President Elect

Gail Humphrey

sandrag@555@wmconnect.com

Gail has been a member of Benton Co. BPW since 1997.  After moving to Camden, she joined BPW to make new friends.  However, she got more than she bargained for as she moved through the officer ranks quickly – serving as Secretary her first year, followed by President-Elect, then President for two years.  She also served as District I Director and Region III Director for two years while serving as President of her local organization.

Gail is an Employment Career Specialist, contracted to the Department of Human Services, helping customers on the Families First Program (Tennessee’s Welfare Program) become employable and enter a career path.  Anyone who receives assistance must follow certain criteria—attending Gail’s classes is one of them, where she teaches them how to get a job and how to keep one once they have obtained one.  She states that BPW has been very beneficial in her job and she has been able to pass on the traits that BPW has helped her become strong in—empowering them to be all they can be and gain self-esteem and strength to accomplish their goals.

Gail is married and has two dogs and two cats.  She lives on a hill overlooking the Tennessee River and, when time allows, enjoys walking, reading, and boating.

“I am proud to be a member of an organization with such strong, motivated women.  It has been a great benefit to me in my endeavors.  I just wish more people were aware of its existence.  We need to grow and become stronger.  I have enjoyed being on the Board of Directors the past three years and working with such a wonderful group of women who have taught me so much.  I hope to continue my growth with everyone’s help.”
