Meet the 2006-2007 State Officers

President

  Gail joined the Benton County Local in 1997 in order to meet people and make friends, however as Paul Harvey

is fond of saying, “now here is the rest of the story.” On the local level Gail has served as secretary, president-elect,

and president. She went on to serve as Region III, District I Director and on the state level has served as Region III

Director, second vice-president, vice president and President Elect. She has been employed

 for four years as an Employment Career Specialist contracted to the Dept. of Human Services. She teaches parents,

usually single men and women, on how to get a job and once obtained, keep it.

Gail is married and lives with her husband, Bob, two dogs and two cats in a house overlooking the Tennessee River.

In her spare time, when there is any, she enjoys boating, walking and reading.

She is proud to be a member of an organization with such strong, motivated women and looks forward to the challenge of being the

federation president.

President Elect                                              

Sharon has been an active member of the Hendersonville BPW since 1987serving five terms as president as well as all of the

 other offices. She currently serves as president of her local. She has served as District IV Director, Region II Director,

State Treasurer, and Corresponding Secretary. She has served as Foundation Committee member, Young Careerist

Chair, Interim Board Chair, and State Convention Co-Chair.

Sharon is a “Plus 5” recruiter several times, a Team Player and Double Hitter and currently is a Power Woman.

Along with active involvement in BPW Hendersonville, Gallatin and Franklin,. She is a member of the Hendersonville Baptist Church. As a 1996 graduate

of the Leadership Sumner Class of Sumner County, she also remains active in the Alumni Association. She is the mother of seventeen (17) year old.

 Elizabeth Taylor, a senior at Franklin-Simpson High School.

Sharon is the ultimate BPW member and knows no other color but purple.

Vice President  

Carol Turpen has been a member of Jackson, TN BPW since 2002. Carol joined the Jackson BPW group to

explore new areas she had always dreamed of, and in doing so she has found new friendships, interests and filled

 some personal areas in her life. Carol’s enthusiasm and devotion swiftly moved her through the officer ranks. Carol

served as Secretary her first year, followed by President and District Director in her second year. Carol has served

 as Region III Director for the past two years.

She is employed by the State of Tennessee as a GIS Tech. (Geography Information System Technician) with the Department of Economic & Community Development-Local Planning Assistance Office in Jackson, TN.  

Carol is blessed with eight grandchildren that keep her on her toes.

 Recording Secretary

Patricia Westbrook, Recording Secretary.  Patricia has been a member of East Memphis BPW since 1998. She became a member of BPW during a very hard time in her life and found the women in her local and in the state to be a source of strength, hope and encouragement. 

Patricia works as a special education aide in Shelby County Schools, independent spa consultant for BeautiControl, and a licensed esthetician.

   Corresponding Secretary

Mary has been a member of the Greater Nashville Business & Professional Women since 2001. Since joining,

she has served As secretary and served her second term as president Of the local.

Mary is Systems Manager for Mid-Cumberland Head Start, a Federally funded program serving over 800 low-income children and families.

Prior to this position, she directed a $4.5 million, bilingual Head Start program in Philadelphia.

Mary has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and a

Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and has previously

taught education and psychology courses at the college level.

Seven years ago she left her position in Philadelphia, and moved to Nashville, to be near her parents. Mary is an active member of Highland Park Church as well as several civic and community groups.

She lives in Antioch with her two cats, Lacee and Gracee. Her hobbies

Include composing music, watching old movies, and reading.

  Treasurer

Rhonda has served her local in many offices and has served on the state level as region III, district I director, region III

director, treasurer (two terms), 2nd vice President/membership chair, 1st vice president/legislative chair president-elect,

 president, and currently finance chair. Rhonda is co-owner of Griffith Electrical and is a Pampered Chef distributor. 

Rhonda is very qualified for this position having served for two terms as treasurer. She knows the importance of keeping

up to date on all financial matters and doing business in a timely manner.

She is the Benton County Chapter of the American Cancer Society Treasurer and is looking forward to a successful

Relay for Life. Rhonda will be married to Robert for nineteen (19) years on July 4th and has two beautiful daughters,

Beth & Jaclyn. Also a poodle named Panda, the “son” in the family. She is dedicated to BPW and what it stands for and is wiling to step up and

serve the Federation again.

Region I Director

      Treasa Newton is a long time BPW member. She is a member of Chattanooga Business Women.and currently serving as Region I District Director,

 Treasa is a past state president, having served in that capacity in 1987-88. Treasa is the owner of Women’s Way Journal , a monthly publication

for and about women.

    Region II Director

Patricia Walker has been a member of the Gallatin Local since 1988 and has held all the elective posts in the local

. “I am proud of our activities and consider all of our members both friends and sisters.”

 Patricia recently retired after teaching for many years at Gallatin High School.

She works part time as a Mary Kay consultant. On the state level, she is serving as fundraising chair and has served

in that capacity for the past two years. “I want to expand my attention to our whole district and promote programs that

benefit all of us.” “I have the time, organization skills and desire to help BPW grow.”
